Professor Max Lu is President and Vice-Chancellor of University of Surrey. Professor Lu is a member of the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology and Director, Board of National Physical Laboratory. He served on the Boards of Universities UK and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).  Professor Lu is a highly cited researcher and has published over 600 journal papers (h=152, and 97, 500 citations). He is co-inventor of 25 granted internationally granted patents in areas of photocatalysis, hydrogen production and storage, membranes, and fuel cells. He was awarded the ARC Federation Fellowship in 2003 and 2008.  He has received numerous awards including the Orica Award, Le Fevre Prize, China International Science and Technology Award, and Chemeca Medal. He was honoured with the Order of Australia (AO) in 2017, Queensland Great in 2013 and being one of Australia’s ‘Top 100 Most Influential Engineers’. He is Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, Australian Academy of Science, Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, World Academy of Science, US National Academy of Inventors, and Foreign Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences, Argentina
